Tarombo is a family tree. Tarombo is a word in Batak language that means "family tree" and Batak is an ethnic group in Indonesia. ​ The well-known tarombo is Tarombo Batak. Marga is a word in Batak language that means "family name". Examples of marga are Aritonang, Butarbutar, Butargabe, Gultom, Hutabarat, Manurung, Nababan, Ompusunggu, Panjaitan, Sianipar, Simanjuntak, and many more. Examples of famous Batak people are singer Rita Butarbutar, singer Victor Hutabarat, and businessman Luhut Binsar Panjaitan.
